Privacy Policy
This policy covers the website only. Protected health information that we create or receive as your medical provider is governed by our separate HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices.
The short version
We built this website to be useful, not to track you. We do not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, advertising tags, or session-recording tools on this site. We do not sell your information. We do not buy your information.
The rest of this page describes what we do collect, why, and how to exercise your privacy rights — including the rights you have as a California resident under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
1. Who we are
This privacy policy is provided by LAC Medical Inc., a California professional corporation, located at 5300 Lennox Avenue, Suite 105, Bakersfield, CA 93309. We operate the website at lacmedicine.com.
2. Information we collect from website visitors
Server logs (automatic)
Our hosting provider records routine technical information when you visit the site: the IP address that requested each page, the date and time of the request, the page or file requested, the response status code, the referring URL if any, and the user agent string (which describes your browser and operating system). This is the kind of information every web server logs. We use it for security monitoring and to diagnose problems. We do not link these logs to individual visitors.
Information you actively give us
This website has one form: the appointment request form that appears on every page. It asks for three things — your name, your phone number, and the best time to call you — so that our front desk can call you back to schedule. It does not ask for medical information, and we ask you not to include any. What you submit goes to our practice staff, who use it only to reach you about scheduling. The form itself is hosted by Google Forms, described in Section 4 below. This website has no chat widget and no other way to submit personal information to us through the site. If you call the phone number listed on the site, the call is handled by our staff and any information you share is protected under our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, not this policy.
Browser storage
We use a small amount of browser localStorage on your device to remember your language preference (English or Spanish) so you don't have to choose it again on your next visit. This information stays on your device — it is not sent to us. You can clear it through your browser's settings at any time.
3. What we don't collect
We have intentionally chosen not to use the following tools and trackers on this website:
- Google Analytics (GA4) and other behavioral analytics platforms.
- Meta Pixel, Twitter/X pixel, TikTok pixel, or other social-network advertising tags.
- Session-recording tools (Hotjar, FullStory, Microsoft Clarity, and similar).
- Advertising cookies or behavioral retargeting.
- Heatmap or scroll-tracking tools.
This is intentional: healthcare websites that load social-network and analytics pixels have been the subject of significant federal and state privacy enforcement, and the safest thing is not to load them at all.
4. Third-party services on this page
This website uses three third-party services. Two of them — Google Fonts and the Google Maps embed — have limited data exposure. The third, Google Forms, receives the contact details you choose to submit.
Google Fonts
When you load a page, your browser fetches the typefaces (Montserrat and Source Sans 3) from Google's font servers. Google may log the IP address that made the request. Google's terms for this service are at developers.google.com/fonts/faq/privacy.
Google Maps embed
The location section of the home page embeds a small Google Maps view of our office address. When that map loads in your browser, Google receives technical information about your visit. We use the standard public Google Maps embed — no API key, no API calls from our server. Google's privacy policy applies to that interaction: policies.google.com/privacy.
Google Forms (appointment requests)
The appointment request form on every page is a Google Form embedded in the page. Unlike Google Fonts and the Google Maps embed, which receive only technical information such as your IP address, Google Forms receives the contact details you actually submit: your name, your phone number, and the best time to call you. Those responses are stored on Google's servers and are available to our practice staff. Google's privacy policy applies to that interaction: policies.google.com/privacy. If you would rather not use the form, call us at (661) 735-1710.
If you would prefer not to load these third-party resources, most modern browsers offer privacy modes or extensions that can block them. The rest of the site remains usable without them; only the embedded form needs to load for you to submit a request.
5. How we use information
The limited information we do collect is used only for:
- Operating and securing the website
- Diagnosing technical problems
- Remembering your language preference
- Responding to an appointment request you send through the form, so we can call you back and schedule
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any automated decision-making.
6. Information sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not share it with data brokers.
We share information only with:
- Our website hosting provider, who needs technical information to serve the page to you
- Google, as the provider of the embedded appointment request form — it hosts the form and stores the name, phone number, and callback time you submit through it
- Our own practice staff, who receive appointment requests in order to call you back and schedule
- Law enforcement or government authorities when required by law (subpoena, court order, lawful investigation)
- Our successor in interest if LAC Medical undergoes a change of control (in which case this policy continues to apply)
7. Your rights as a California resident
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you and how we use it
- Access a copy of that information
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete personal information we hold about you, with some legal exceptions
- Opt out of sale or sharing of your personal information (note: we do not sell or share for advertising)
- Limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information
- Non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information at the end of this notice. We will verify your identity before responding to any request.
Health information is different. Information we collect from you as a patient is governed by HIPAA and California's Confidentiality of Medical Information Act (CMIA), not the CCPA. The rights you have over that information are described in our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices.
8. Children's privacy
This website is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information through this site, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Data retention
Server logs are retained for a limited period (typically 30 to 90 days) for security and operational purposes, then deleted in the normal course of hosting-provider log rotation. Language preferences stored in your browser remain on your device until you clear them.
10. Data security
This website is served over HTTPS with a current TLS certificate, so the content of your browser's communication with the site is encrypted. We rely on our hosting provider's standard infrastructure protections for the server side. No website is ever perfectly secure — if you believe you have discovered a security issue with this site, please tell us so we can address it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date at the top of the page and post the new version at the same URL. Material changes will be noted in a brief change log added to the bottom of this page.
